Who we are
Teen AI Builders is run by GHMR NEGOCIOS LTDA. Contact: [email protected].
What we collect
- Your email address and your country.
- Your answers to the optional questions after you sign up (instructor, price and what would help most), if you give them, and the boxes you ticked.
- The version of the text you agreed to, and when you signed up.
- Which link brought you here (for example "meta" and "us"). It never identifies you on other sites.
When you sign up, we collect nothing about your teen: no name, age, school or photo. What happens to what your teen types in the Lab is explained in The Lab below.
Why we use it
- To email you the free lesson, because you asked.
- Only if you ticked the optional box: to send tips and offers.
- Your answers to the optional questions: the instructor you pick decides which version of the free-lesson email we send you, and all your answers, counted together with everyone else's, help us decide the price and which lessons to make next.
Our legal basis is your consent. You can withdraw it at any time.
How signing up works
Pressing the button sends you one confirmation email. If you then answer the optional questions, we save your answers in our own record right away, before you confirm. Nothing else happens until you press Confirm in that email. If you never confirm, your answers are deleted with the request.
To stop repeat requests, we keep a scrambled code of your email - a keyed hash, not the email itself - with the date you asked. Requests that are never confirmed are deleted within 30 days, and the daily repeat-request counters within 2 days.
What we keep in our own records
Besides our email service, we keep a small record of our own for each parent:
- the scrambled code of your email (never your email in plain text);
- the dates you asked, confirmed, accepted or declined marketing, and unsubscribed;
- the email service's id for your contact, and where the email sequence stands;
- your answers to the optional questions, if you gave them.
It holds nothing about your teen. We keep it while you are subscribed and for 12 months after your last activity. You can ask us to delete it by writing to [email protected]; we do it within 30 days. After that we keep only the scrambled code with the deletion date, for 8 days, so that an old confirmation link cannot sign you up again.
Our "do not email" list
If you unsubscribe (with our link or your email provider's), untick the marketing box on a later sign-up after ticking it before, or ask us to delete your details, we add the scrambled code of your email and the date to a "do not email" list. That is all it holds: no email in plain text, nothing about your teen.
The list is how we keep our promise never to turn our emails back on by mistake. Signing up again still gets you the free lesson, but while you are on the list our tips and offers stay off. For that reason we keep this entry even after deleting everything else at your request. We review the list every 12 months, and we remove your entry if you write to [email protected] asking for our emails again.
How to stop emails
Use the unsubscribe link in any of our emails, or the unsubscribe link your email provider shows. Either one stops everything. You can also write to [email protected].
If you unsubscribed and want our emails again
Write to [email protected] and we add you back by hand. Signing up again on the page sends you the free lesson but does not turn our emails back on (see our "do not email" list).
The Lab
The Lab, at lab.teenaibuilders.org, is where your teen builds apps with AI, starting with the free lesson. It is for teens aged 13 to 17 and is run by GHMR NEGOCIOS LTDA, like the rest of Teen AI Builders. The free lesson opens without a sign-up, and the Lab asks your teen for no personal details.
- What your teen types goes to Claude, an AI made by Anthropic, so that it can answer and build the app. With each request the Lab also sends the app's code, any error messages from the app and the last few chat messages.
- Before a request reaches the AI that builds the app, the Lab looks for personal details, such as a name, school, address, phone number, email address or password. When it finds them, the request is held back and your teen is asked to take them out. The check can miss things, so the lessons also teach your teen never to type personal details. The Lab also checks requests for harmful content, using Claude.
- Anthropic deletes these requests and answers within 30 days and does not use them to train its models by default. Content its safety systems flag can be kept for up to 2 years.
- We do not keep what your teen types. Our Lab logs keep only counts and categories, such as "blocked: gambling", never the text.
- Lesson progress, exercise answers and saved versions of the app stay in your teen's browser. The chat disappears when the tab is closed. For the daily limit, the Lab counts requests per random browser code for that day; the code identifies a browser, not a person.
- Published apps are public. Each one gets its own address on teenaibuilders.app, with no name in it, and anyone with the link can open it. Before publishing, the Lab asks your teen to check the app with a parent or guardian. Every published app has a "Report this app" link, and every report reaches our team. An app goes offline when three different people report it, or as soon as our team finds a problem. If you bought the Starter or the full course, the email you get each time your teen publishes an app has a link to take it down; you can also write to [email protected].
- If something your teen writes suggests they may not be safe, the Lab shows local helplines. It does not store what was written.
- The Lab shows no ads, builds no profiles and uses no tracking cookies.
Who processes it
- Resend, our email service, stores your contact details and sends our emails.
- Cloudflare hosts the site and our own records. On the parent page it also counts visits in aggregate (Cloudflare Web Analytics), without cookies and without identifying you.
- Anthropic runs Claude, the AI in the Lab, as described in The Lab.
- Render hosts the Lab and the published apps.
- Meta and Google measure our ads, only if you accept on the parent page.
- Payhip runs the checkout, later; its own cookie banner applies there.
We do not sell your details.
How long we keep it
Your contact at our email service: while you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe, the email service keeps your address marked as unsubscribed, so that nothing more is sent to it. When you ask us to delete your details, or 12 months after your last activity, we take your address off our list there and keep it marked as unsubscribed, then delete the contact by hand within 30 days. We do not delete it if the same address separately signed up for another service we run; only our list entry is removed. Our own records and the "do not email" list: as described above.
Laws we follow
We comply with the child online safety and privacy laws of the countries where we offer Teen AI Builders: the United States, including the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), Canada and Australia. Teen AI Builders is for teens aged 13 to 17, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Purchases are not available in the United Kingdom yet.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask to see, correct or delete your details, or withdraw your consent. Write to [email protected] and we will reply within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Cookies and measurement
On the parent page we ask first. Measurement is for adults only.
- Nothing is measured until you press Accept. An Accept lasts at most 2 hours; after that we ask again.
- Decline, or "Cookie settings" at any time, stops everything and reloads the page without the ad tags.
- Our cookies: tab_consent (your choice) and tab_adult (when you accepted). If you came from the teen page, a protective cookie, tab_teen, keeps the ad tags off. If you bought the Starter, your private link sets tab_lab, a random code that tells one browser from another for the Lab's daily limit; it holds no name or email.
- On the teen page and the lesson pages we only count visits, with no cookies, no ad tags and nothing that identifies anyone.
- Our emails to parents measure opens and clicks.
